Size Guide

Most of what Cedar Gift sells hangs on a branch, sits on a table or goes on a wall, so “size” means different things on different products. A tee needs to fit a person, a porch sign needs to fit a wall, a throw needs to fit a couch and a mug needs to hold enough coffee to get through morning chores. This guide walks through every size option in the store and explains how to choose, using things you already have at home. It does not list body measurements or exact product dimensions; instead it shows you how to compare our options with a shirt, a wall or a sofa you know. 1. Every size option in the store

The table below lists each product type, the options you will see on the product page and what each extra size costs. These are the exact labels used in the size buttons, so what you read here is what you will click.

Shipping is free whichever size you choose, to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with no minimum. A bigger sign or throw does not change the delivery estimate of 1-3 business days to prepare plus 7-14 business days in transit.

2. Tees, sweatshirts and hoodies

Our apparel is unisex: the same size chart fits men and women, and the cut is the same whichever colour you pick. The Red Farm Tractor Graphic Tee comes in Heather Forest, Sand, Charcoal Heather and Maroon; the Old Pickup Christmas Crewneck Sweatshirt in Oatmeal, Heather Forest and Navy; the Buck Season Pullover Hoodie in Charcoal Heather, Heather Forest and Sand. Colour never changes the size.

Measure a shirt you already own

The most reliable way to choose a size is to compare with a piece of clothing that already fits the way you like. You do not need to measure your body.

1. Pick a tee, sweatshirt or hoodie of the same kind that fits well. For the tractor tee, use a crew-neck tee; for the hoodie, use a hoodie.
2. Lay it flat on a table or the floor, front side up, and smooth out the wrinkles without stretching the fabric.
3. Measure straight across the chest from one armpit seam to the other. This is the width that decides most of the fit.
4. Measure the length from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, straight down to the bottom hem.
5. Write both numbers down, then email them to us with the product name and the size you are thinking about. We will tell you which size is the closer match.

If you do not have a tape measure, a piece of string and a ruler work fine: lay the string across the shirt, mark it, and measure the string.

Choosing between two sizes

• Wearing it over layers: if the tee will go over a thermal, or the hoodie over a flannel or a heavy work shirt, go one size up. Cold mornings at the truck call for room.
• Wearing it on its own: take the size you usually wear in tees and sweatshirts.
• Buying for someone else: ask a family member what size they usually wear, or check the tag of a shirt in the laundry. If you still have to guess, the larger of two sizes is the safer gift; a roomy hoodie is worn far more often than a tight one.
• Women choosing unisex sizes: many women who wear a women’s medium in fitted tops find a unisex S or M comfortable; compare with a unisex tee you already own to be sure.

Caring for the fit

Washing inside out on cold and tumble drying low, or hanging to dry, keeps the fit and the print as they arrived. Hot washes and high dryer heat are the usual reasons a shirt feels smaller after a few weeks.

3. Porch signs and the coordinates sign

The Bless This Farm Wood-Look Porch Sign and the Custom Coordinates Home Place Sign both come in 8 x 12 in and 12 x 18 in. Both are printed signs with a wood-grain look. The right size depends on where the sign will hang and how far away people will read it from.

Test it on the wall with paper

1. Cut a piece of paper or an old cardboard box to the size you are considering. A standard letter sheet is a little smaller than the 8 x 12 in size, so tape two sheets together and trim them if you need to.
2. Tape it to the wall where the sign will go, at the height you would hang it.
3. Step back to where people will usually stand: the doorway, the couch, the end of the porch.
4. Look at it for a day. If it disappears next to a coat rack or a window frame, the larger size is the better choice. If it crowds a narrow space between two doors, keep the smaller one.

Which size suits which spot

For the coordinates sign, remember that a longer place name such as MILLER HOME PLACE takes more room across the sign than a short one like BIG OAK CAMP. If your place name is near the 20-character limit and the sign will be read from a distance, the larger size gives the letters more space.

4. Fleece throw blanket

The Back Forty Fleece Throw Blanket comes in 50 x 60 in and 60 x 80 in. Think about who will use it and where.

• 50 x 60 in: a lap and couch size for one person in a recliner, an armchair or a tailgate seat. It folds neatly over the arm of a sofa.
• 60 x 80 in: a larger throw that can cover two people on a sofa, drape across the foot of a bed or cover a twin bed at the cabin.

A simple check: measure the seat of your sofa from arm to arm, or the top of the bed you have in mind, and compare with the two options. If the throw is mainly for show, folded over a chair, the smaller size looks tidier. If it is for real use on cold nights, the larger size is the one people reach for.

5. Throw pillow

The Old Truck Farmhouse Throw Pillow comes in 16 x 16 in and 18 x 18 in.

• 16 x 16 in: suits an armchair, a rocking chair, a window seat or a small loveseat.
• 18 x 18 in: suits a full-size sofa, especially one with a deep seat, where a smaller pillow can look lost.

If you already have pillows on the sofa, measure one of them across the front, seam to seam, and choose the size that matches it so the old truck pillow sits evenly beside them.

6. Mugs and the tumbler

The Front Porch Farm Coffee Mug comes in 11 oz and 15 oz. The 11 oz size is a regular coffee cup; the 15 oz size is for the people who refill twice before they reach the barn. If you are not sure which size your recipient prefers, look at the mug they use every morning: most kitchen mugs are close to one of the two sizes, and you can check by filling it with water from a measuring cup.

The Tree Stand Sunrise Tumbler comes in one size, 20 oz, with a lid. If it is for a truck, check whether the truck’s cup holder is a wide one; tumblers of this size fit many cup holders but not every one.

7. Ornaments: finish, shape and pack

Ornaments do not have size options to choose from. Instead you choose how the ornament looks:

• Finish: Light Wood-Look (a honey tone) or Dark Wood-Look (a walnut tone). Both are printed wood-grain looks. Light stands out on a dark green tree; dark sits well on a white, flocked or heavily decorated tree.
• Shape: on some designs, Round, Star or Heart. The heart is a common pick for couples and weddings; the star suits the top branches.
• Pack: on some designs, Single or Set of 2 (+$12). A set holds two identical ornaments, handy when the same picture of home should hang on two family trees.

8. Personalised products and size

On personalised products the text fields have character limits, and the size of the lettering depends on how long your text is. A short name such as JAKE prints larger than a long one such as HOLLIS CREEK FARM. The live preview on the product photo shows roughly how your words sit before you add to cart. We print exactly what you type and do not send a proof first, so check the spelling, the capitals and the year before you order.

9. If the size is not right

It happens, especially with gifts. Every product can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of delivery, for any reason, and we send you a free return label, so a size swap costs you nothing in postage.

1. Email [email protected] with your order number and the size you would like instead.
2. We reply within 24 hours on business days with the return label and instructions.
3. Send the item back unworn and unwashed. When it reaches us, we prepare the new size and ship it free.

Moving up into 2XL or 3XL, or into a larger sign, throw, pillow or mug, means paying the small difference shown in the table above. Moving down means we refund the difference. If you would rather have your money back than an exchange, the refund is sent within 7 days of receiving your return, to your original payment method or as store credit that never expires.
