Intellectual Property Policy
Last updated:
This Intellectual Property Policy explains who owns the designs, photos and words on cedargift.shop, what you may and may not do with them, how we keep other people’s brands, logos and characters off our products, what that means for the names and text you type into personalisation fields, and how to tell us about a trademark or other intellectual property concern. For copyright notices about a specific drawing or photograph, please use the process on our DMCA page.
The short version
- The Cedar Gift name, logo, designs, product images and text belong to Cedar Gift or are used under licence.
- You are welcome to share links to our pages; please do not copy our designs or photos.
- Our tractors, trucks, bucks and towns are generic drawings — no vehicle, equipment, outdoor or sports brands, no team names, no licensed characters.
- Personalisation must be your own words: family names, nicknames, towns, years and places, not brand or team names.
- Report concerns to [email protected] with the subject “IP concern”; we acknowledge within 24 hours on business days.
1. What belongs to Cedar Gift
Everything on the site — the Cedar Gift name and the cedar-tree-in-an-ornament logo, the artwork on our ornaments, signs, coasters, throws, pillows, doormats, keychains, apparel, mugs and tumblers, our product photos and category images, the product descriptions, help and policy pages, and the look and layout of the site — is owned by Cedar Gift or used under licence. It is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws in the United States and in the other countries where we sell.
2. What you are welcome to do
- Browse, view and print our pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, such as printing a product page to show a relative.
- Share links to our products and pages by message, email or social media.
- Quote a short extract from a page with a link back to the original.
- Post a photo of a Cedar Gift product you bought, hanging on your own tree or porch, on your own social media.
3. What you may not do
- Copy, reproduce, resell or republish our designs, product photos or descriptions, including on marketplaces, print-on-demand platforms or other shops.
- Print our designs on your own products, or create products based on them, without our written permission.
- Use the Cedar Gift name or logo, or anything confusingly similar, in a way that suggests you are connected with us or that we endorse you.
- Scrape or bulk-download the site with automated tools, other than normal search engine indexing.
- Remove or alter any copyright or trademark notice.
4. Generic designs, by choice
Country life is full of famous names: equipment makers, truck brands, outdoor and hunting labels, sports teams, cartoon characters. Many of them are trademarks or copyrighted works owned by someone else, and their colours, logos and shapes are protected too. Cedar Gift does not use any of them. Our designs are drawn as generic subjects:
| Subject | What we draw | What we leave out |
|---|---|---|
| Tractors and combines | A red farm tractor, a vintage tractor, a combine at harvest | Maker names, badges, model numbers and trademark colour schemes |
| Trucks | An old pickup, a flatbed farm truck, a modern 4×4, a classic pickup front | Grille emblems, model lettering, aftermarket brand logos |
| Hunting and fishing | A whitetail buck, mallards, a ladder stand, a largemouth bass, a plain lure | Outdoor brand logos, company camo patterns, tackle brands, slogans from labels |
| Hometowns | A water tower, main street, a grain elevator, a country church, a mailbox | Real business names, city seals, school mascots, co-op or company signs |
| Apparel and drinkware | Our own lettering, such as FARM LIFE or BUCK SEASON | Team names, league marks, player names, licensed characters |
When a product description mentions a colour, it uses plain colour names such as Barn Red, Heather Forest or Sand, never a name that belongs to a brand.
5. Personalisation and other people’s rights
Many of our products let you type a name, a year, a town, a short line or coordinates. Those fields are for your own words: THE MILLERS, OLD BLUE, JAKE, HOLLIS, MILLER HOME PLACE. Please do not type:
- vehicle, equipment, outdoor, hunting, firearm or clothing brand names;
- sports team, league, club, college or player names;
- names or catchphrases of cartoon, film, TV or game characters;
- slogans or logos that belong to a company;
- a real business’s name as if it were endorsing the product, unless it is your own business.
We print exactly what you type and do not send a proof, so we rely on you here. If personalisation text includes a brand, team or character name, we will email you to change it before printing. If we cannot reach you, we cancel and refund the order. Town names, place names and family names are fine; we print them as plain lettering without copying any official logo or seal.
6. Personalisation examples: fine or not
Most people never come near a problem, but questions do come up, especially around trucks and teams. These examples show where the line sits.
| You type | Can we print it? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| THE MILLERS 2026 | Yes | A family name and a year |
| OLD BLUE 1998 | Yes | A truck’s own nickname, not a brand |
| HOLLIS on the water tower | Yes | A town name as plain lettering |
| Opening morning, Butler County | Yes | A description of a day and a place |
| A pickup maker’s name or model | No | A vehicle trademark |
| A tractor maker’s name or slogan | No | An equipment trademark |
| A favourite team’s name | No | A sports trademark |
| A cartoon character’s name | No | A licensed character |
If you are unsure whether something counts as a brand, email us before ordering and we will tell you. A quick question costs nothing, while a cancelled order delays your gift.
Your own business name
If you own a farm business, a ranch, a garage or a guiding service and want its name on a coordinates sign or an ornament, that is fine: you are the owner of that name. Please only use it in the plain lettering our fields allow; we cannot add your logo.
Names of real people
Family names, children’s names and the names of friends are what personalisation is for. Please do not use the name of a celebrity, athlete or public figure in a way that suggests they endorse the product.
7. Our trademarks
Cedar Gift and our logo are trademarks of Cedar Gift. Other names that appear on the site — for example the names of countries or places in addresses or examples — belong to their owners, and their appearance does not suggest any connection with or endorsement by them.
8. Respecting other people’s rights
We only sell designs that are our own or that we have the right to use. If we learn that a product may infringe someone’s trademark, copyright, design right or right of publicity, we review it promptly, and we remove or change it when appropriate. Customers who already ordered a product we remove are offered a different design or a full refund, sent within 7 days of our confirmation, and keep the usual 60-day return right under our Returns & Exchanges Policy.
9. How to report a concern
Email [email protected] with the subject “IP concern” and include:
- Your name and contact details, and your relationship to the rights owner (owner, employee, lawyer or agent).
- The right you believe is affected — for example a trademark registration number and country, or a description of the design or character.
- The full URL of each product or page concerned, and which image or wording.
- A short explanation of why you believe it infringes, and a statement that the information you provide is accurate.
For copyright in a specific drawing or photograph, please use the formal process on our DMCA page, which has its own required elements.
10. What happens next
We acknowledge your report within 24 hours on business days and review it promptly. If the concern is valid, we remove or change the product or content and tell you what we did. If we need more information, we ask before deciding. If we conclude that there is no infringement — for example because a design shows a generic tractor with no maker features — we explain our reasons in writing, and you are welcome to send more information.
11. Asking permission to use our work
If you would like to use a Cedar Gift design or photo — for a church bulletin, a 4-H club flyer, a school fundraiser or a news story — please email us and describe what you have in mind. We read every request and reply within 24 hours on business days. Permission is only valid in writing from us and only for the use described.
12. If you find our designs copied elsewhere
If you see Cedar Gift designs or product photos on another website, marketplace listing or social media shop that is not ours, we would be grateful if you sent us the link. Products sold elsewhere under our designs are not made or checked by us, and we cannot accept returns or answer questions about them.
13. Ideas and suggestions
Customers often suggest designs: a combine in a different colour, a duck blind, a town’s water tower shaped like a coffee pot. We love hearing them. If you send us an idea, we may use it freely without payment, but we will never publish your personal information without your permission.
14. Questions we hear often
Can I order a tractor ornament painted in my own tractor’s colours?
Our tractor designs come in the colours shown on the product page. We do not repaint a design to match a particular maker’s colour scheme, because those colour schemes are often protected as trademarks. A red farm tractor covers a lot of farms.
Can I put my truck’s licence plate number on an ornament?
A plate number is not a brand, so it is not an intellectual property problem. Keep in mind that the ornament may hang where visitors see it, and you may prefer a nickname or a year instead.
Can a club or business order your designs with its name?
Yes, if the name belongs to the club or business ordering and fits in the personalisation fields as plain text. For anything beyond that, such as adding a logo, please email us first.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our product range grows. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest change.
