Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Cedar Gift collects when you visit cedargift.shop or buy an ornament, sign, mug or anything else from us, why we collect it, who it is shared with, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. Cedar Gift is run from 29115 Valley Center Road #K207, Valley Center, CA 92082, US. We are a small online shop that talks to customers by email only, and we try to keep the information we hold to what a parcel and a reply actually need. If you have any question about your privacy, email [email protected] and we will reply within 24 hours on business days.
The short version
- We collect what we need to take your order, print any names or years you type, deliver the parcel and answer your emails.
- We do not sell your personal information and we do not rent mailing lists.
- We do not run a newsletter or marketing emails; you only hear from us about your order or when you write to us.
- Payment details are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout, not stored by us.
- Photos you send us to show a problem are deleted 30 days after delivery of your order.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by email at any time.
1. What we collect
1.1 What you give us when you order
When you check out, we collect your name, email address, billing address and shipping address, plus the products, finishes, shapes, sizes and colours you picked. If you leave a note in the order notes field — “leave it at the shop door”, “this is a gift for Grandma” — we keep that with the order too. A phone number field may appear at checkout; if it is optional, you can leave it blank, and we never use it for calls or texts about marketing.
1.2 What you type into personalisation fields
Many of our products have personalisation fields on the product page: a family or farm name, a driver’s name, a hunter’s name, a town, a year, a short line for the back, or the name and coordinates of a home place. Whatever you type there is saved with your order so we can print it exactly as entered. That text can be personal — THE MILLERS 2026, JAKE and his first season, the coordinates of your farm — so we treat it the same way as your address: it is used for your order and nothing else.
1.3 What you send us by email
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. Customers most often send a photo of a cracked ornament, a misprinted sign or a parcel label. We use those photos only to sort out your problem.
1.4 What is collected automatically
Like nearly every website, cedargift.shop records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you open and the time of your visit. This happens through our web server logs and through cookies set by the shop software, described in section 4. We do not install third-party advertising pixels or third-party analytics tools on this site.
1.5 What we receive from others
The payment provider that processes your order tells us whether the payment went through, along with limited details such as the payment type and a transaction reference. It never gives us a full card number. Carriers and shipping partners may tell us whether a parcel is on its way or delivered.
2. Why we use it
- To fill your order: printing your product, including any personalisation text, preparing it in 1-3 business days and shipping it to your address in the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
- To keep you informed: sending the order confirmation and replying to your questions about delivery, returns, exchanges and refunds.
- To handle problems: using the photos and details you send to replace or refund damaged, misprinted or missing items.
- To keep the shop safe: spotting fraudulent orders, blocking abuse of the site and keeping it secure.
- To meet legal duties: keeping the business and accounting records the law asks us to keep.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not send promotional emails. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
For visitors in places where the law asks for a legal basis — such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom — we rely on performing our contract with you (taking and delivering your order, handling returns), our legitimate interests (keeping the site secure, preventing fraud), and legal obligations (keeping records).
3. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the businesses that help us run the shop, and only what each one needs to do its job:
- Production and fulfilment partners who print and pack your item receive the product details, your personalisation text and your shipping name and address.
- Carriers receive the name and address on the parcel, and sometimes an email or phone number so they can deliver it.
- The payment provider shown at checkout receives the payment information you enter there, under its own privacy policy.
- Our hosting and email providers store the website and our support mailbox, so the information passes through their systems.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our customers or our rights, or as part of selling or transferring the business. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
When you order a gift that ships straight to someone else, the recipient’s name and address are used only to deliver that parcel. We do not contact the recipient for any other reason, and we do not add them to any list.
4. Cookies
The shop software (WordPress with WooCommerce) sets a small number of essential cookies so the site works: one remembers what is in your cart, another keeps you logged in if you have an account, and others help the checkout and protect against misuse. Our hosting and caching set technical cookies that keep pages loading quickly. These cookies do not track you across other websites.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; if you block essential cookies, the cart and checkout will stop working.
| Type | Purpose | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|---|
| Cart and session | Remembers the items, options and personalisation text in your cart | Only by blocking cookies; the cart then stops working |
| Account login | Keeps you signed in if you create an account | Yes, by logging out or not creating an account |
| Security and performance | Protects forms and keeps pages fast | Only by blocking cookies in your browser |
| Advertising or analytics | Not used on this site | Not applicable |
5. How long we keep it
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Photos you email us (for example of a damaged item) | Deleted 30 days after delivery of your order |
| Order records, including personalisation text | As long as tax and accounting law requires |
| Support emails | As long as they are useful to resolve your request and any follow-up |
| Account details | Until you ask us to close the account |
| Server logs | A short period kept by our host for security |
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous. Store credit linked to your email address never expires, so we keep the record of that credit until it is used or you ask us to remove it.
6. How we protect it
Every page on cedargift.shop is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to order information is limited to the people and partners who need it to fill your order. Payment details go directly to the payment provider and are not stored on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information, and if a breach affects you and the law requires notice, we will tell you.
We will never ask you for a card number, a security code or a password by email. If you get a message like that claiming to be from Cedar Gift, do not reply; forward it to [email protected].
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct information that is wrong, such as a misspelled name or an old address;
- ask us to delete your information, subject to records the law requires us to keep;
- object to or limit certain uses, or withdraw consent you gave;
- opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither).
California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended. Residents of Canada, Australia and New Zealand have similar rights under their national privacy laws. To make a request, email [email protected] from the address you used for your order and tell us what you would like. We may ask a simple question to confirm it is really you, and we respond within the time the law allows. We never treat you differently for using your rights.
8. Children
Cedar Gift sells gifts that many families buy for children, but the shop itself is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or a higher age where local law sets one). If a child’s name appears in personalisation text, it is because an adult typed it for a gift, and it is handled like any other order detail. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Visitors outside the United States
Cedar Gift is based in California and ships from the USA. If you order from Canada, Australia or New Zealand, your information is processed in the United States and wherever our service providers operate. We take steps required by law to protect it when it moves across borders.
10. Changes to this policy
If our practices change — for example if we ever start a newsletter or add a new payment option — we will update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. Changes apply from that date; information collected before a change is handled under the policy that applied when it was collected, unless you agree otherwise.
